Jersey Airlines

These 3 images were from a set of slides which are all dated from the early – mid 1960’s. These slide are undated.

The aircraft shown, registration G-AMYJ, is a C-47B Skytrain, which is the military equivalent of the Douglas Dakota DC-3. She was delivered to the US Airforce in February 1945, worked for the RAF up until 1953, when she was sold off and then registered as a civilian aircraft in 1954.

I am able to find very little and even then conflicting information about her service with Jersey Airlines. Jersey Airlines appears to have been absorbed by British United Island Airways (BUIA) in 1968. Considering the dates in slide collection they were found in, I would suggest that these images were taken in the early 1960’s. The location is unknown.

The aircraft now resides at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington airfield in her RAF livery as KN353. She is maintained in ground running condition.
